May Day Weekend

Saturday 30 April – 20 miles

Six regulars, with two daughters, on a Saturday bunrun, with coffee at Giro.

May Day – 50 miles

Longer ride in fabulous weather, punctuated by ‘the Shane Sutton argument’ and the longest coffee stop ever, featuring unfeasibly large bacon butties. A split after coffee (amicable), with the longer ride continuing up Staples Lane, Crocknorth and Box Hill.

Bank Holiday Monday

Indifferent weather led to an early round of the Park Lap Challenge: best time 20:12, so not a new club record. Thereafter a trip out to Walton, Hersham and Whiteley Village. Eggs Benedict in Cafe 55 then a gentle ride home via the the new 2nd-hand bike shop on Richmond Road (closed).

And the alternative weekend

Robin and Richard’s hard slog from Kingston to Melksham: mostly on National Route 4,via Windsor, Newbury, the Kennet and Avon Canal, and several pubs. 109 miles over two days, mostly off road. Ouch.
